5D Mark II Firmware 1.0.7 – Black Dot and Banding Fix

Update: I added a screenshot of Galbraith’s site below because some people didn’t believe me. Note that this is an ACTUAL screenshot, I did not make this myself, except for adding the red arrows.

Nikon whore Rob Galbraith is reporting that the 1.0.7 firmware update for the 5D Mark II is about to get released by Japan. Get it here. This firmware fixes the black dot and banding issues on the 5D Mark II (we hope).

Galbraith’s site appears to be completely infested by Nikon ads lately. Jesus H. Christ. It almost looks like you’re on the Nikon corporate website when you visit his site. My eyes hurt within a few seconds from all the yellow Nikon logos on the screen at the same time.  I guess all the free equipment “loans” do come at a price.

But I have to say, it’s good marketing by Galbraith and Nikon. Noticed how Galbraith is the first to report about the new firmware? Great strategy: Appear to report about Canon news so you get Canon users to the site, and then surround the content with Nikon ads. Desperate Canon users flock to the site in mass to get the new firmware to fix their defective camera and get distracted by the full force of all the Nikon ads. Already frustrated by the Canon equipment, most of them naturally click on the blinking Nikon D700 ads.

Brilliant.

  1. Eh. Just came from his site and there are SanDisk ads all over. Not a single Nikon one. It seems that his ad provider just flooded Nikon ads as a part of some larger Nikon campaign.

  2. boy oh boy. your blogs make my day. this one nearly gave me a heart attack!
“My eyes hurt within a few seconds from all the yellow Nikon logos on the screen at the same time.” too funny. no sarcasm here. pls. keep it coming.

  3. I see our sneak attack is working. Very catching with the title of the post. Your solution to the 5D Mk. II banding problem… – easy fix. Buy a Nikon.
